LETTERS NEVER DELIVERED · Doctor Caspian Agare II

My Sweet Barnacle,

This ship has become well-organized even in your absence.

The medical supplies are properly arranged and every instrument is accounted for.

Arseil asked if I was ill. I told him an insufferable woman from Ariga had threatened to inspect my cabinets until the end of my natural life.

He said he liked you anyway.

Bastard.

Anyway, the crew's doing fine. Naero's back to asking stupid questions, the sea's been unusually calm, and I haven't had to stitch anybody together this week. A remarkable achievement, considering the idiots I'm surrounded by!

Yesterday, I caught myself wondering whether one of the dockworkers we'd treated would be able to afford another day away from work. That's your doing, Barnacle. You've got me thinking about things I used to leave for somebody else to figure out.

I've been aboard the Galleon for years. I know every goddamn sound she makes, every rotten corner of her hull. Never had much trouble leaving Port Shimmer behind.

But the other morning, I caught myself watching the harbor disappear and wishing we were already sailing back.

I'm not going to insult your intelligence by pretending it's because I miss the fried fish.

You know, for someone who arrived determined to ruin my life, you've become a wonderful thing to look forward to.

Miss you, my sweet Kiarla. Caspian

P.S. 30 days without a smoke. Can't wait to receive my reward ;)
